If you simple go blindly sending information to people you think may be interested in the products or services you are selling, you will fail to bring in any new customers or recruits as the case may be.
The methodology you use for building a list of names must include steps for continuous recruiting of new prospects of customers.
1. Define your target audience
This is the most important part of listbuilding. If you don’t know those who are interested in your products or services, you will be taking shots in the dark. The key to success with listbuilding is to get the information to as many prospects as possible in the shortest time possible. In order to do that effectively, you want to identify your target audience and present your sales information to that group of people before you do anything else.
2. Continually update your list of prospects
After you identify your target audience and begin the process of getting your sales information to those people who fall within that group, you need to continually update your list. Remember, those that fall within your target audience will increase or decrease for various reasons, so you have to continually update your list.
3. Follow up with sales or recruitment efforts
One mistake that many people in both sales and network marketing fields make is not following up with prospects. You will not achieve any level of success if you send out information about your business products and services and never follow up on the information you sent. Do not adapt the mistaken idea that if they were interested, they would have contacted you.
4. Do not attempt to make decisions for your target audience
Many people fail to make their business profitable because they attempt to make decisions for their prospects. Even if you know someone personally, do not assume they will not be interested in your product line or business opportunity.
5. Always stay in touch with those on your list
During your listbuilding efforts, make sure you stay in touch with those already on your list. Even if you are recruiting people rather than sales, circumstances may change, especially if they see you are experiencing a degree of success with the marketing plan.
